Meditation

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

Meditation is a practice initially developed by Eastern cultures of Hinduism and Buddhism. The Buddhist practice of meditation focuses on emptying one's mind and achieving a state of 'no mind.' The Buddhists use 'No Mind' meditation as is a means to cultivate the tenant of not having any attachments as a response to the belief that our attachments in life is the cause of our suffering.

1. No Mind

Allow the calming of your mind and let nothing occupy it. This form of meditation is more of a mindless meditation, for we want to engage our inhibitory neurons such that we suppress information from occupying the contents of our mind.

2. Reflective Mindful Meditation

Be mindful of your thoughts or a specific thought and explore it without letting other distracting thoughts or environmental stimuli to distract your attention.

3. Zen Meditation

Pick an object and do not allow other thoughts or environmental stimuli to distract your gaze.
